Lisa, there is a school of thought in fitness (especially amongst surfers) that if one trains bare foot, doing as much stability work as possible, the feet and all their tiny muscles, ligaments, and tendons are strengthened. Again, for surfers it makes sense: you want to be as strong and solid on your feet as possible while standing on a fast, moving board. In essence, it gives surfers "grip" on their boards; they can hug the surface with their feet. Not sure why Lance is doing it for cycling though? :) P.S. Sweet workout! But why is Lance in barefeet while doing weight training? That is an injury waiting to happen!
