Food for Thought

I came across this article today, and I really like it. I have been personally mortified by the number of processed baby foods that have been popping up over the past few years. I think people trust food manufacturers when they shouldn't. Food is big business and food manufacturers are all about making money/ selling their products. Health of the consumer is not their M.O and we need to remember that! Just because the box says it is healthy, doesn't mean it is a good choice. It is marketing. Getting your kid hooked on processed crap from birth is a frightening thought.
Anyway, have a read if it interests you...

oh...OH!!! Can I comment on this? I haven't read the article but I wonder sometimes about the cancer rates these days...and the crap put into our bodies...my rule is to TRY to feed the boys food that is as few steps away from it's source as possible...it is really really hard somedays...but why would I fill their little bodies with all that crud?? My 3 year old's fave foods are yogurt and oatmeal...M likes carrots and multi grain bagels...funny to see him order at T-Ho's a "multi grain" bagel!!

Iam so happy to hear the "fire" is back for you! Although, to be perfectly honest, I don't think it ever really went away. The fire was what kept you going through all those low period of struggle. With the warming weather and increased sunlight, you can now actually ENJOY the fire. :) :) :)

You guys have been doing some great workouts -- just wait until you unleash your legs for the half marathon! You'll be fr

By the way, thanks for your insightful comments on my blog. You always seem to dig in right beneath the surface and point out something I've been blind too. It's amazing how a couple of sentences can cause me to change my attitude. :) :) :)

Totally with you on this - I'm gald there are now "Canadian standards" for being able to declare a food "organic" as in the Organics baby food line - at least you know there won't be any garbage there...I am hoping I will have the time to be doing a lot of blending and food processing after we have kids to 1. save money and 2. know what I'm feeding my kid :) I hope the "getting knocked up" efforts are going well for you guys ;)

crud. add to the list of kids ailments... attention issues (hello good nutrition can really change this), allergies, asthma, skin rashes, and so on. The better the food going in, the better fueled the child for growth and development. Period. When I see kids showing up at school with a Redbull in hand for breakfast I go on a rant.... can not help myself.

Did you see the documentary on what they put in pet food! I'm thinking that we should just feed Harley the same thing we eat, he'd be much healthier!
