Vicarious

So since I am not training and racing to compete for a while, I have found other ways to feel the satisfaction and achievement associated with those pursuits. Luckily my job is the perfect job for this. I get to assist and support others to achieve their goals, push their boundaries and expand their context for what is possible.
Today my Women of Strength group ran the Fall Classic 10km. Since we are training for the Vegas Half, and the schedule called for 12km, the girls had to finish the race and then head out for another 2km. I had many comments of what an evil bleep bleep I was for making them do this. They all did amazing, pushed themselves to run faster and stronger and further than they had before. I've had a huge smile on my face all day, and my heart is full of pride for them.

Also for my husband, who had a goal of PRing today and did that plus more. He ran the 10km in a blistering 34:25. About 3 minutes faster than his previous best from 4 years ago.
While I have struggled some days with this new 'program' I am on, I feel unbelievably fortunate for my role as a supporter and coach. Fitness is still at the center of my life, but now instead of pushing my body to its limits, I am focused on health and balance. Luckily I can live vicariously through the achievements of my clients and my hubby, which for now feels as good or better than doing it myself.

PINKNESS!!! OMG -- I thought I died and went to heaven when I saw all that gorgeous pinkness!!

I think this new direction you are taking is exciting...Focusing on balance and helping your gals (and hubby) achieve their goals -- is there really any other way to feel so awesome? :) :) :)

Mike and I are going to GP this weekend for a wedding on Sunday. I'll be doing a 1h30min hilly run on Sunday morning - wanna join me? I really have no idea where to run, so even if you have other obligations, maybe you could point me in the right direction? Hee-hee!

I don't chat, just breathe really noisily... :)

We're staying at Days Inn -- here is my email: toblyobly@yahoo.com

My dad used to say that just like a car goes further and faster with less energy when the wheels are aligned...same should be a goal of life...
